What is an Elder?

An elder is another word for an alumnus, or a member of the fraternity that has completed their education. Once a Zete graduates from university, he may nolonger be a student, but he is a member of the Fraternity for life. His membership simply moves from the active chapter to the elder chapter.

What does the Elder Chapter Do?

The elder chapter allows brothers to remain in contact, enjoying many of the activities they did as actives. Elders also play a role in the operations of the active chapter, both at an administrative and constitutional level. The elder chapter has a slate of elected officers that oversee its operations and the operations of the active chapter, as well as the assets of both chapters.

What If I Move Away From My Home Chapter?

That's not a problem. It doesn't matter at which chapter a Zete joined the fraternity. If he wants to continue to participate, the local elder association will be more than glad to welcome him. It's quite common to see Zetes from other chapters join other elder chapters, and even serve on their executives.
